Manchu, together with the Qing Dynasty which it established, ushered in a new era that integrated the northern nomadic culture and the agricultural culture in the Central Plains of China,an era that witnessed intense collisions between Chinese traditional ruling ideology and modern western Christian civilizationBecause of such characteristics as mentioned above, the feature of religious policies in Qing Dynasty was bound to be dominated by Confucian culture and Tibetan Buddhism, taking Buddhism Taoism and Islam into account while rejecting the new invasive ChristianityIn the Qing Dynasty, though the circumstances for interior Buddhism,Taoism,Islam and Christianity were different,Tibetan Buddhism indeed had an unusual impact on the dynastyBut generally speaking, the Qing Dynasty adopted a political utilitarian attitude towards all kinds of religions: have it promoted if beneficial and useful, and restrained if profitless and uselessThat was the fundamental reason why Manchu rulers had never been controlled by any of the religions and the rise and fall of different religious sects were basically confined to the range of imperial power
