CALL FOR PAPERS Poverty Alleviation in China after 2020

Economic and Political Studies (EPS), an ESCI and Scopus listed journal hosted by Renmin University of China and published by Taylor & Francis Group, calls for papers for a special issue on “Poverty Alleviation in China after 2020”.

Despite significant achievements in poverty reduction in the rural area, China is faced with new challenges in poverty alleviation after 2020. Since most of the people who remain poor are incapable to work, new strategies for poverty reduction should be developed. In addition, poverty alleviation in the rural China over the past 40 years can provide valuable references for countries suffering mass absolute poverty. At the same time, China also needs to learn from countries where relative poverty is successfully reduced to fight relative poverty in its own land in the future. To address the above concerns, we invite you to contribute to a new special issue on “Poverty Alleviation in China after 2020”. Perspectives from all different disciplines are welcomed. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

How to eliminate absolute poverty? What lessons can be learnt from China?

Evaluation of policies of poverty alleviation in the rural China since 1978

Growth, inequality and poverty alleviation in the rural China since 1978

How to define and measure relative poverty?

Relative poverty in the rural China after 2020

Changes in policies for dealing with relative poverty in China after 2020.

Lessons from other countries for China to reduce relative poverty after 2020
