【Call for Papers】Housing Markets in the Greater China Area

Economic and Political Studies (EPS, http://www.tandfonline.com/REPS), an ESCI and Scopus listed journal hosted by Renmin University of China and published by Taylor & Francis Group, calls for papers for a special issue on “Housing Markets in the Greater China Area”.

The seemingly perennial surge in property prices has been the overarching theme for housing markets in Greater China since the 2007-08 Global Financial Crisis, with the housing affordability in numerous cities now stretched to unsustainable levels. However, these runaway headline figures mask the fact that substantial regional dispersion in house prices, such as urban-rural disparities, still persists. More recently, the deceleration of China’s economy, coupled with the unwinding of the Sino-US trade war, has injected a fresh dose of uncertainty to the outlook for housing markets in the region. Economic and Political Studies now invites contributions to a new special issue on “Housing Markets in the Greater China Area. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Mispricing in housing markets
  • The determinants of spatial disparities in property prices
  • How the Sino-US trade war affects housing markets in the region
  • How deleveraging efforts in China affect its housing market
  • The effectiveness of government interventions on taming house prices in China
  • Housing markets, financial stability and economic growth of China
  • The housing markets of Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau of China.
