Catalyzing to the Legend about Chinese Tree Divinity from Tree Worship in South Asia

Abstract

Spreading into China in the periods of Sanguo and Jin Dynasties, tree worship in south Asia interacted with the rational speculation aroused by the native ecological difficulty and convulsed the state of mind of the Chinese folk-custom. The convulsion was represented deplorably and doggedly by the tree divinity motif with the form between legendary and literature. Under the Buddhist tenets of all life being born equally and abnegating murther, motif of sutra stories went profoundly into the mental of ancient Chinese folk-custom. Tree divinity worship eventually became a nucleus of vegetation divinity worship in ancient China.
