The New York Intellectuals: A Forgotten Group of Literary Criticism

Abstract

The New York Intellectuals refer to the group of Jewish scholars and literary critics lived in New York between 1930-50s.They inherited radical tradition of American Left-wing intellectuals,and abandoned Bolshevism amongst the Old Leftist.On the basis of dialectical relations of literary (imagination) to social reality,they studied the Western literary modernism and American native literature,thus impelled characteristically American tradition in social-cultural criticisms.
