Abstract

Under the Neo Confucian path of  “life leads to benevolence and benevolence dominates life”, Zhu Xi identified “universals of reason” as “virtues of reason”  through the efforts of interaction, on the basis of his theory of Neo Confucianism in terms of ontology, epistemology and axiology, which was named  “two doors in one reason”Zhu Xis “one reason open two doors” theory of Neo Confucianism presented the dual implication to scientific development respectively from three angles, namely, ontology, epistemology and axiology: on the one hand, it is manifested by the contradictory phenomena that the development of modern natural sciences in China had been both nurtured and curbed, and on the other hand, it is reflected by the enlightening significance to the comprehensive interdisciplinary development of modern sciences
