Abstract

The introduction of western science and technology into China, which took place in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties with the mission of Jesuits, can be called the first wave of Western Learning Spreading to the EastIt gave China new chances to develop science and technology in the 17th centuryHowever, due to the interaction of various factors, both objective and subjective, “Western Learning Spreading to the East” gradually transformed into an ideology of “Western Learning Originated from East”.As a result, the possibility of modern transition of science and technology in China dropped to zero after the midQing DynastyBut in other ways, this wave of Western Learning Spreading to the East brought western science and technology into ChinaThen two originally parallel traditions began to intersect, which became a precursor to the transition of science and technology in modern China
