由于中国的启蒙发端于以西方思想启中国传统之"蒙",乃以"中外之争"开启了"古今之争",这两方面始终缠绕在一起,因而中国的启蒙运动面临的是比西方启蒙运动更为复杂的局面。启蒙的合法性危机不仅在于西方人对启蒙的批判使启蒙的核心即理性主义遭到了质疑,知识分子在启蒙中的主导地位受到了大众文化的冲击,而且面临着传统文化的难题。启蒙并没有过时,因为它的任务还没有完成,我们需要重新思考并确立启蒙的合法性基础。

Since it took place at the time when the struggle of China vs.Western enlightened the dispute between the ancient and the modern,these entangled factors made China's enlightenment more complicated than the Western.On one hand,rationalism as the center of the Enlightenment was questioned by the Western critique of enlightenment;on the other hand,intellectuals' dominant statue in enlightenment was challenged by popular culture and they were also faced with puzzles in dealing with traditional culture,which both led to the crisis in the legitimacy of enlightenment.But enlightenment is not out-of-date,because it is still an unfinished project.What we need is to rethink and set up the legitimate basis for enlightenment.
